One of Brazil's most important female graffiti and street artists, Nina Pandolfo made the transition from the great outdoors to the white walls of the gallery since starting her painting as a twelve-year-old. The São Paulo artist is known for her renditions of doll-like characters with the telltale wide eyes of a contemporary Kaikai Kiki sensibility. Colourful, candy-toned landscapes are the backdrops for these young ladies who live cartoon lives in bodies that span the divide between childhood and adulthood.
Life's Flavor, an exhibition of work by Nina Pandolfo, is being shown at the Carmichael Gallery in Culver City through April 18, 2010.
