Alexander James can't get away from the bright lights of Tokyo and what better symbol of its nightlife than the beacons that signal an end (or beginning) to the evening? James shot these taxi lights in the darkened back streets of the city, isolating the graphic elements of the signs and focusing on their friendly glow. The bright lights, big city effect is softened by the choice of some of these images, as puppies, stars, globes and frogs compete with more commercial propositions. As usual, the images are presented "as shot."
