James Marshall, also known as Dalek, has been known for his Space Monkey character, a futuristic mouse that had a prominent role in previous series of works. Marshall has been relying less on characters, though, preferring to let the colours and patterns of his super flat paintings speak for themselves. The compositions are sharp, geometric renditions of abstraction that are "busy environments that echo the mechanical repetition of industrial mass-production." Perhaps the Space Monkey is still hidden within the variety of clean shapes and optical perspectives.
