The Tate Guide to Modern Art Terms by Simon Wilson and Jessica Lack is a very handy tool when it comes to deciphering modern art speak. The terminology surrounding much of what goes on in the contemporary art world makes up a language used in reviews, exhibition captions and catalogues and literature about modern art, so it is very useful for the layperson or student to have a reference guide that solves some of the mystery. The small format makes this resource pleasantly portable.
