Subtlety is the flavour of Ross Sawyers' photographs of almost empty interiors - are they gallery spaces, abandoned hotel rooms or unfinished condos? Someone has been there to drape the plastic, pin up curtains or tidy that pile of dirt, so each scene seems like a work in progress. Because there is movement in the rooms that does suggest work and change. These pieces are part of an exhibition of Sawyers' work called Contained Within. But what is contained? A sense of anticipation or resignation?
