Creepy crawly candy is one way of summing up paintings by Yoko D'Holbachie. This artist's characters are grotesquely cute, ranging from flower-power slugs to bleeding, winged worms to other invertebrates with pursed lips. An array of antennae, eyeballs, suction cups, long eyelashes and medusa-like tresses are made vibrant by D'Holbachie's palette of neons and pastels. These are the creatures you might reach out to grab without thinking, only to find that they slime or sting without compunction. It's like a Hallowe'en apocalypse that takes place as a result of way too much candy.
