Hallowe'en costumes are the norm this time of year, but Kiersten Essenpreis takes Hallowe'en headgear and dangerous dressing to new heights, especially when ghosties and bats are part of the picture. Still, nothing scary about Essenpreis' approach to ghouls and goodies even when swimmers are buried in candy corn, bats fly out of petticoats and Medusa needs a haircut. Essenpreis is in fine form (despite a right hand that is not!), and her precise paintings continue to delight.
