EVERYMAN'S JOYCE: James Joyce for the 21st Century by W. Terrence Gordon, Eri Hamaji and Jacob Albert is a handy introduction to the James Joyce canon. This tidy little tome is cleverly packaged with photographs, compelling graphic design and quotes that open onto a path towards an important twentieth century cultural and literary figure. The illustrative aspect of the graphic design serves to visually highlight Joyce's brilliant verbal play and thorough use of language, especially in Ulysses and Finnegans Wake. Particularly useful are the simple strategies on how to tackle Joyce that sum up Gordon's guided tour. The book actually feels good to the hand and could serve as a key to the Joycean world.
