Tristan Stevens' paintings are softly washed landscapes of memory and the unknown where recurring images lurk, a reflection of mystery, innermost thoughts or questions. Birds, antlers, dripping skies, Lego bricks and boys are some of the images that come back to star in different stories. The artist does not like to examine the underlying or find ways of explaining them, preferring instead to rely on instinct and let himself be guided by the inexplicable.
