"Changes" by Franziska Klotz
Paintings by Franziska Klotz are a collage of techniques that blur the subject so that the viewer is forced to approach from a different angle. Klotz uses brush and spackle along with aerosol to layer images and textures. Soft pastels and crucial details are partially obscured by dark shadows, but at the same time the paintings have a luminescence about them that gives them a dreamlike quality. Animals blend into humans and girls in sunglasses are set against a backdrop of football boys - nothing if not intriguing.
