"Everything That Ever Existed Still Exists" by Rebecca Bird
This series of watercolours by Rebecca Bird are based on photos of nuclear bomb blasts, mostly from government archives. With the setting removed, the blast becomes more abstract or almost cloud- or cotton candy-like. At the same time, these works are very detailed. Emotional trauma is the underlying theme and these explosions represent "subjects that defy communication." Bird's lack of scale symbolizes the difficulty of conveying the meaning of violent or traumatic events.
