Lisa Kokin plays with puns as Ex Libro, the title of her upcoming exhibition, ends up meaning both "from the book" and "formerly a book." Quite appropriate, considering Kokin alters text quite literally by deconstructing books then reconstructing them. Kokin makes papier maché forms out of books and often sews the contents back to the covers. The form defines the content, like the Room for Improvement installation where all the components are made from self-help books.
