Dubai Postcards Project by David Payton
by sabine7 / January 14, 2009

Artist David Payton, currently living in Dubai, feels that this is one of the strangest cities in the world, based on the variety of architecture alone. He feels that architecture is the tool used to build dreams and that some of them turn into nightmares. He has collected 400 postcards that depict an array of architectural examples of this and drew on them before sending them, in a specific order, every day to a gallery in New York. Once mounted in order, this collaboration with Ignacio Gomez reveals an image of the mastermind behind the urban planning: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
