"Curtain" by Casey Ruble
by sabine7 / November 4, 2008

The battlefield is often the topic of Casey Ruble's intricate paintings, but battle has never looked this good. Ruble's use of cheerful colour set upon botanical backgrounds gives a feeling of tapestry rather than conflict. The action is there, further heightened by the cut-out negative spaces and the charming shapes of the settings. Within the battle the warriors and horses wear detailed fabrics that suggest materials that could be used for kimonos, so all in all, Ruble provides the viewer with a very visual treat.
