To say that Scott Listfield paints only astronauts would be an outright lie, for sometimes he paints dinosaurs. What is most fascinating about the astronaut is the context in which he is placed. Listfield states that, "The astronaut in my paintings is simply here to explore the present." It is precisely his presence that makes us examine the surroundings more closely and question whether they should be considered more random than an out-of-place astronaut. Listfield uses vivid colours and fine detail to add more of a surreal element to our present than there already is.
