The paintings that make up the Inside Of series by Sehwon Min are based on photographs the artist took of tree bark at San Francisco parks. Once she uploaded the photos, she manipulated them digitally before using them as studies for the resulting paintings. The abstractions are organic patterns of colour, line and form; the largest, at over five feet in height, brings the bark to life. The paintings remind us of the patterns that repeat everywhere in the natural world, and that the abstract can be quite concrete.
