Monochromatic strips of colour in different shades work to veil nostalgic images of the artist’s golden age of television. Catarina Lira Pereira grew up in France of the 1980s when Japanese animated productions were all the rage. Memories of that time are curtained by the reality of the present, which filters out much of the past’s big picture. These strips, like fronds of vegetation or crepe paper ribbons, add a dimension to the work, much the same way memory adds layers to the truth.
