"Face à face"
Paintings by Montreal-based artist Eve Duhamel have a pop-py feel to them, a graphic mix of line, almost photographic drawing and a splash of colour. The main illustrations or character are shadowed by outlines that possibly mirror their movements, feelings or deepest thoughts, to add depth to the bold surface. A woman sits in reflection, as the viewer reflects upon the relationship with the face that looks back. Three girls look out from their canvas, but only one has been reproduced – why her, and what will happen? A young man hides behind shades, while children run. Was he ever part of this group?
