"Flower Dress You"

When Ottawa’s Stefan Thompson became aware of how being an artist affects the environment, he started phasing out toxic paints until he reached the point in 2007 where he no longer used any. Thompson, who holds a degree in environmental science, has a detailed section on his website where he explains the toxic elements of paint and presents some alternatives. His work is a delightful array of often whimsical birds and animals, sometimes in disguise. In addition to using non-toxic paints, Thompson works with recycled materials such as fabric and cardboard, often obvious elements in his work.
