"Flamingo Fever, Daly City, California"
by sabine7 / April 11, 2008
In Jeff Brouws’s collection Freshly Painted Houses (from the American Typologies series), the viewer is treated to an ice cream palette of tract housing in Daly City, California. At first, one can almost be forgiven for jumping to the conclusion that the artist simply kept painting the same house over and over. The houses are particularly stunning against the bright blue sky. Yet why is it these houses make great photos but awkward neighbourhood features?
