Maira Kalman is a celebrated illustrator known for her children’s books and recent illustrated edition of Strunk and White The Elements of Style, but recently published a compilation,
The Principles of Uncertainty, of a yearlong series of columns for the New York Times. Kalman’s illustrations come with colour commentary and provide a glimpse into a point of view that is based on the distillation of her observations. Kalman’s illustrations are the type of artwork that sinks into the psyche and soon one finds that snippets of text begin to accompany one’s own everyday visuals.
