"Geisha russe"
by sabine7 / December 3, 2007
French street artist Koralie translates her delightful kimono’ed ladies to canvas. These girls are shaped like matrioshka dolls, keep their eyes closed and have often symmetrical (or at least very tidy) braid-like hairstyles, so when they turn up on walls outside, it is a most pleasant surprise in terms of street art. Heart-shaped lips and dabs of rouge add to the dolly effect. There is something of the old-fashioned paper doll about them, the ones that could wear dresses that stayed on with square tabs that need to be folded over.
