Beautiful Katamari, the latest instalment of the Katamari Damacy video game series from Keita Takahashi so enthralled Jennie Maneri that she created her own katamari from a variety of tiny things that fit the bill. The katamari (clump or clod in Japanese) is a magical adhesive ball that rolls about collecting objects that stick to it as it increases in size and becomes a star. It must start with small items and work its way up to larger ones. At the core of Maneri’s sculpture is a felted ball upon which she has glued, sewn and pinned a myriad of miniatures. Of note are the boxes of Pocky and Milky that she made using inkjet prints. Fun – we can’t wait to see more.
