"Carolyn Langston, Back"
by sabine7 / November 8, 2007
Leigh Glover is an emerging London painter whose work is hugely influenced by the human figure. Glover allows himself to be guided by the body and its movement before letting the expressions of the face take the lead. His portraits are a delight. Glover’s brushstrokes are confident and through the pursuit of abstraction, achieves a likeness of the subject. It is as much a pleasure to view a portrait by Glover as a whole as it is to focus on the details and remain entranced by the technical skill. In Carolyn Langston, Back, for example, we are able to feel the sitter’s body language and have no need of seeing her face, nor is our curiosity aroused. Glover’s work satisfies the viewer; we are sated by what he has done.
