"Ursine"
Posted by sabine7 Exhibition | Oct 9, 2007

Based on the success of her well-known monkey portraits, Jill Greenberg headed to Canada and set up an outdoor studio in the Calgary area so that bears could be the new focus of her lens. The resulting portraits in the Ursine series are spectacular and one has to admire Greenberg’s drive, as most people would simply run the other way when faced with a bear. These portraits do bring out the personalities of the bears, but the scale also lends a majestic air to the series.
