Penguin by Design: A Cover Story 1935 – 2005 by Phil Baines is a lovely little book that looks at the evolution of the classic Penguin covers over a span of seventy years. The penguin logo has undergone many changes, but continues to stand out as an easily recognized publishing icon.The over 600 colour illustrations take the reader through time, revealing loads about British publishing and the graphic design that goes along with it. After all, many books are judged by their covers.
