It Would Have Been Selfish to Ask for More by Edwin Ushiro is such an arresting piece of work that we had to learn more about this artist, who grew up in Hawaii. Riding Summer Without Skipping a Beat sums up childhood summers for him, bikes were where it was at. This piece conveys the curiosity involved in exploring all the hidden corners with friends. When We Met is based, however, on a memory shared by the artist’s mother, who dreamt that a circle of children were waiting to take her away as she lay in hospital as a baby. Clearly Ushiro has a lot of great stories to tell.
