Illustrator Shannon Bonatakis grew up in a haunted house and today claims that something is living in her freezer, so her narrative paintings are just as chock full of atmosphere as one would expect. A lot of Bonatakis’ work is in the area of children’s illustration, but her paintings demonstrate a side that is a lot less cute. The Candy Cane Man looks so unhappy with his lot that one can’t help but think there’s more to his problems than simply the seasonal issue.
