The figures in Johan van Dijke’s paintings are deep in contemplation of the worlds around and within them. Van Dijke’s way of mixing interiors with exteriors is very peaceful and the viewer can feel the harmony and value in taking it all in at the same time. The usefulness of not viewing things in isolation is brought home in these works and the dualism present allows us to see different approaches to a usual destination.
