Brendan Monroe’s paintings of blobs with personality are intriguing portraits of creatures who are either covered in paint chips or choose to wear them, some who look suspiciously textured and others yet who are smooth and haggis like. Human characters do get quietly involved, but the set of all their mouths, human and blob alike, makes it terribly difficult for the viewer to figure out what is going on inside their heads.
