"We Call Her Miss Chimp"
by sabine7 / April 12, 2007
Audrey Bernard is a Minneapolis painter who did not set out to be an artist, but fell into painting as a way of expressing her love for family she had left far away in Jamaica. Bernard found that spending time in a community-based art studio was a route towards peace. As she learned printmaking, Bernard used family photographs as the basis for her artwork and has since not only bridged a painful gap, but has been participating in exhibits to boot. To give back, Audrey Bernard has partnered with Pretty Darn Swell and 25% of the sale of each print of We Call Her Miss Chimp will go to the very program that helped her when she needed it.
