Burtynsky - China
Edward Burtynsky’s photos of China are spectacular panoramas of industry, running the gamut of stages necessary to produce goods for our modern societies. Raw materials are depicted as are their production, but it is the labour involved that makes for the most compelling images. It is easy enough to forget Burtynsky’s message as we walk away from an exhibition, but having this magnificent book around will serve to keep us more aware of how we pillage and plunder.
