Keegan Wenkman’s paintings differ from his illustrations in that the mood is heavier. Tones and colours layer upon each other in small portraits of people that do not smile very much. However, they don’t look grumpy, just all too human. Indeed, it is the human condition that is evoked by Wenkman’s oils and you just know that each of his characters has a story to tell. But won’t.
