Peter Zimmerman’s modernist paintings can almost be seen as updates on stained glass, with the light allowing layers of resin epoxy and the canvas itself to show through. Zimmermann uses digital imaging to deconstruct found images and creates an abstract image after much manipulation. When he arrives at the final design, it is projected onto the canvas where he cares fills it in with the tinted resin. The artist’s technical skills as well as concept and composition work together to result in brilliant pieces whose smooth, glossy surfaces are very tempting.
