"Penumbra"
Bruce Brosnan uses MDF and acrylics as the main ingredients for his sculptures, but the factor that is a little more difficult to manipulate is the use of shadow. Brosnan’s pieces are usually designed to be wall sculptures, and depend on a light source to cast the shadows that are incorporated into the work. The shadows add a subtlety to Brosnan’s work, managing to tone down the exuberance exuded by the brightly hued shapes while adding depth to the layers already present.
