"No One in Particular"

Evan Penny’s hyperrealist sculptures are often a play on scale and proportion, for they are almost squashed or flattened, giving a 2 /12 dimensional effect. Although some of his pieces, like Aerial, do comprise the entire body, Penny will sometimes focus on a particular aspect, such as his Back series, or let his imagination take over, as in the case of No One in Particular where none of the busts are based on real models at all. An interesting aspect of Penny’s work is the lack of expression on the faces – each one is quite neutral, almost like a passport photo.
