There can only be one Number 1, and here at Art MoCo it has to be Emily Eveleth's series of jelly donuts. The remarkable thing about these paintings is how close they resemble portraits due to the artist’s skills in bringing them to life and having them ooze emotion along with the jelly. Another striking aspect of these paintings is their size: Eveleth believes in a large scale, which results in Rubenesque sweets. Her palette seems, at first glance, limited, but the countless brushstrokes that make up her works truly result in turning the humble donut into an object of beauty.
