San Francisco artist Eric Joyner is known for his oils based on the secret lives of robots and their passion for donuts. Joyner’s latest series of paintings also involve Japanese monsters who provide a keen sense of doom, not that the robots seem worried. There is also a fair bit of flying saucer imagery, leading the viewer to wonder about the relationship between the robots and aliens from outer space. Eric Joyner has created a whole new world of colour and zaniness, but the robots look so very serious. It is all too good.
Eric Joyner’s new show Forbidden Adventures just opened at the Cory Helford Gallery in Culver City (LA) and runs through December 23rd.
