Dutch painter Wil Jansen builds up layer upon layer of oil paint to create paintings that are more paint sculptures than simple canvas. Jansen’s work is stucco-like in appearance, but also gives an aspect of icing a canvas with oils and wild abandon. The result is work that takes on the look of freshly fallen petals. Paintings by the former Rotterdam veterinarian are wonderfully physical and just beg to be touched.
