Thomas Demand: Phototrophy, edited by Eckhard Scheinder, provides an abundance of Demand’s recent works in this coffee table catalogue. Demand builds paper models of the scenes he wants to photograph and once the shot is taken, the sculpture is destroyed so that the photo exists as the artwork. The reproductions in this book clearly show the paper naure of the work, seams and all. Some of our favorite works are in this book – stacks of gold bricks constructed from paper and also a kitchen sink filled with glasses and half-full cups of coffee.
