Laura Letinsky’s still life work is reminiscent of the paintings of the Old Masters, yet depicts a much more contemporary morning after. Chicago-based, but originally from Winnipeg, Letinsky’s photos, whether of leftover fruit both fresh and candied or relationships in progress, are classical compositions full of detail. Number 60 is the aftermath of a celebration, past that point where one cannot possibly clean up one more thing. The calm of Number 35 is marred only slightly by the presence of the soft drink pull tab in the corner and the positioning of the rum ball in Number 41 has the viewer drooling for just a tiny sliver. Please.
