"PBJ"

Andy Yoder focuses on familiar domestic objects as his oeuvre and the classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich is nothing if not domestic. Yoder’s view is that the home is where one seeks comfort and control. Both these elements can act as a “shield” against the perils of the world at large, so Yoder plays with these notions by examining the various forms that make up this protective domestic layer and then plays with the forms themselves. And we’d say a pair of licorice shoes is a fine example of altered states.
