New work by Lorraine Peltz is fruit-themed: pears, peaches and plums play a central role in her latest canvases, This is a departure from her previous series on boots and their uses, or other feminine themes of handbags and Hostess cupcakes. Peltz’s paintings are full of lush colours and backgrounds of flowers and foliage, there is something almost textile-like about her work. Sprinkled throughout are icons of femininity like lips and strings of pearls or cartoon connections such as speech bubbles and exclamation marks.
