John Zoller’s series of lambda prints, the Alphamega Photos, is an intriguing set of colours that bubble over into each other. Zoller mixes basic destructive elements, fire, heat and light, with technology to create these rich abstractions. The process is fire on photo emulsion and the results are anything but tragic. Zoller does not use any digital manipulation to achieve these results. His themes are fairly primordial: birth and death, beginning and ending, transcendence and the transference of energy, akin to the process itself.
