"Between Here and There"
An important element in the work of Michele Kong is hot glue. In fact, sometimes it is the only element. Kong’s sculptural installations are like delicate concoctions of spun sugar, only hot glue is more lasting. Between Here and There are walls made up of Kong’s hot glue wizardry, while Expanse is a net of interwoven hot glue links. Drop, resembling dew on a spider web, is representative of the work Kong does when she introduces monofilament to the picture. Golden Rules is simpler yet: an installation consisting entirely of angel hair pasta that looks like a field of cut hay.
