San Francisco artist Jonah Burlingame is a painter all about colour and materials. Hollow door panels, acrylic paint, varnish and a turkey baster are all meaningful tools in Burlingame’s work. Although the artist does not shy away from bold colours, they are softened and mixed in such a way that light and reflection are as much part of the equation as the jewel reds and greens that he uses. Burlingame’s goal is to create works that are esthetically pleasing while enjoying the process that takes him there.
