"Wools"
The realism in the oils of Chilean artist Claudio Bravo allows his still lifes to come alive. Paper, fabric, wool – the tactility of Bravo’s subjects comes through in the dimensionality of his works. His most recent paintings are studies of paper and packages tied up with string, obviously a few of his favorite things. Light and shadow are just as much part (and parcel) of Bravo’s repertoire of wrinkled papers and skeins of wool – all of which work together as calmly deceptive trompe-l’oeil.
