Ben Olson’s acrylics depict such vulnerability and emotional exposure that it is not surprising that the viewer experiences some discomfort in the viewing. Olson tries to capture moments when feeling trumps reason. Relationships, and the situations they engender, are under scrutiny, so it comes as a relief to learn that Olson pretty much sticks to the use of the two models that happen to be closest at hand: the artist himself and his girlfriend.
