John Diebel’s mixed media collages are of a society reminiscent of those behind the Iron Curtain, and in fact, Diebel is influenced by time spent living in Berlin at the end of the Cold War. Many aspects of socialism are depicted in his vignettes which follow the style of a graphic novel. Diebel’s characters are dressed in the fashions of yesteryear and sport extremely neutral, bird-like heads in keeping with the generalized aspects of a communist environment. But let's not get complicated - Sick Day may well be a popular theme for the start of the week.
