Jennifer Bartlett’s paintings, which often depend heavily on a grid system devised of vertical and horizontal brushstrokes, look almost like intricately woven tapestries. But Bartlett has certainly not limited herself to paintings. Throughout her career, she has worked with other media, such as screen prints and enamel on steel. Her styles have varied, too, giving her audience a taste of her brand of minimalism, realism, conceptualism and even impressionism. There has always been a fair amount of patterning involved in Bartlett’s work and her recent works, based on the simple image of a house, put the triangle atop a square, albeit via a variety of techniques.
